April Showers Bring More Than May Flowers

Happy April! It may switch from pleasant to bitter-cold and back again outside, but the greenhouse always stays nice and toasty warm, coddling the little plant babies as they take root and form their first sets of leaves. We recently celebrated our very first mini-harvest of the season- baby arugula. You would have thought we were trying our best to imitate a family of starved rabbits the way we scarfed it up!

Starting work at the farm just a few short weeks ago is the lovely Rachel deVitry, fresh-plucked from a large organic farm in Pittsburgh. She is looking forward to getting to know this area from the soil on up to the people, so if you see her around, be sure to say hi! You can read all about her here.

In the next month, we are expecting more farm-hands, both human and machine. We will be pleased to introduce Genevieve Slocum just as soon as she starts, and we will be thrilled to finally get our hands on our very own stone-grind mill for making all of our own fresh organic flours for the bakery!

Coming in May will be the re-opening of our newly renovated farm store! Bright, beautiful, and climate controlled, we'll be sure to let you know just as soon as we're ready to show it off.
